New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has removed Joanna Prukop as chair of the State Game Commission. While this appears to be a result of a dispute between landowners and anglers, there are many reasons why Prukop, an outspoken advocate of Boone and Crockett Club hunting and trapping policies, who was a long-time Game Department employee, should not be trusted to oversee Game Department policies.
The remaining game commissioners are likely to approve their furbearer trapping rule at their next meeting, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road, Las Cruces NM.
